How much sugar do you use? Im loving all the recipes ur sharing =)
Thank you Adeela, glad to know it. I usually don’t boil it with sugar, but usually in Aden they do. For this amount you can add 1/4 of a cup [or less, it depends on your taste], and let it boil with the water, cardamon, and cloves. Or you can sweeten it later after it is done and served in individual cups/ tea glasses either with honey or sugar. Tastes good with honey too :D
What a great recipe! I made it for my family and it was wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. I love your blog! :)
Asalamu Alaikum
My husband has asked me to make a ginger drink. I wondered if you might have a recipe for it?
Wa Alaikum Asaalam–
Like Yemeni coffee with ginger? I have one recipe up already, it is Yafai coffee under hot beverages. If you tell me what he is looking for, I can see what i can find insha Allah.

Salamu Alaikum Dr Lamyas,
I finally got the chance to try the red tea. How yummy and so aromatic mashallah. The only thing, for the 3 cups of water, I added your recommended 1/2 tsp of tea. I used loose leaf Ceylon tea. There is no PG tips in AUS. It did not make the tea red. Maybe it is too little tea?
Wa Alaikum Assalam Ronia–
Alhamdullilah you got to try it. Yes, with other teas you will have to adjust the amount. Each tea has its own character I guess :) I use PG Tips that I get from Indian Stores [East Asian] around the area , or if someone is coming from Yemen they get me some tea from Yemen called Kaboos that is also very very good. Some people tend to think that tea leaves don’t differ, especially the regular black/red tea leaves but they do in intensity of flavor and color.
Lamya
AoA,
can we add milk to the tea?
thanks
haroon
Wa Alaikum Assalaam,
You can but it would have to be stronger. So add more tea leaves.
